Frequently Asked Questions
Take a look through these FAQ’s and chances are, your questions will be answered. If you can’t find an answer here or on another page, feel free to shoot us an email here.
If I cannot attend, can I get a refund?
Sorry, but we do not offer refunds.
Can a friend or family member pick up my race packet?
Yes, but you’ll need to bring a copy of their registration confirmation. Please read the full details on picking up someone else’s packet here.
Where can I park?
For packet pick up, you are allowed to park right at the Ramada Conference Center. However, on race day, you will need to park next door at XL Sports World. See the parking and directions page for more information on this.
Are there bathrooms available?
Yes, there are both male and female bathrooms at the Ramada Conference Center where the pre-race and post-race events will happen. Both bathrooms are handicap accessible.
Can I switch from the 5k to the 10k, or vice versa?
Yes, if you are switching from the 5k to the 10k, you will be charged the difference between the two event prices. However, if you switch from the 10k to the 5k we are unable to refund the difference in the price.
How does the chip timing system work?
Race timing is provided by Run207 using disposable bib transponders. This is a disposable chip system in which the timing tag is placed on the back of the bib. Please do not fold your bib, because doing so can break the electrical circuit inside the tag, possibly resulting in your tag not being recognized when you cross the start or finish line. Results will be available live at the finish line, and online once the last finisher has crossed the line.
What will the weather be like on race day?
The temperature typically ranges from the low 30s at the start to the upper 40s or lower 50s by the finish. We usually have good weather for a run, but it is Maine, so make sure to be prepared for anything!
Are walkers allowed in the race?
Yes, walkers are allowed in the 5k. We ask that if you plan to walk, you sign up in the Walker category. You will still receive all the swag that a runner gets, but it helps us to keep track of how many runners and walkers we have on the course.
Are wheelchairs allowed?
Yes, wheelchairs are allowed in all events. We also welcome individuals with other physical limitations.
Are dogs allowed?
For safety and insurance reasons, pets are not allowed – this includes turkeys.
When will the awards ceremony take place?
The awards ceremony for each race will began as soon as we have accurately confirmed the results, in the Conference Center. Typically, this is at 9:30am. Runners who have won an award but are not able to stay for the awards ceremony can ask to receive their award before the ceremony. Please check in at the podium inside the Conference Center.
What if I need medical attention?
Medical personnel will be at the finish line and at two locations on the course.
Can I leave clothing at the starting line?
We understand that you may want to strip down layers right before the start of the race. Because you will start and finish at the same location, you can leave clothing off to the side of the road, but race crew is not responsible for any personal belongings. Any clothing left after the race will be collected and donated.
Take advantage of online registration and skip the lines on race day! Sign up now and secure your spot in the 2018 Saco Turkey Trot. Make sure to bring your friends and family along as well, and encourage them to run, walk, or volunteer!
